Per what Tuffy is saying, that is why I would go for the rails. I think, if I am not mistaken, you could use a Folbe mount, and that should solve the easy removal issue. The Folbe holders are great product. You will not have a lot of give in terms of horizontal space on the gunwale, but you could set the rail in a bit to help with the cover issue. Only way to really know would be to get out the measuring tape.

I fish in MN so I end up not using the holders all that much. Wish I could deadstick, but it is either illegal or extremely boring.
