| Im running mid 20's at just over 6000 with a 12P Spitfire. On an older Mariner 50 4 stroke. Holeshot is ok. It has a hydrofoil / dolphin thingy on it. I took it off and tried it and not sure it changed much, a little extra bow lift maybe on take off, no real change in speed so I put it back on.
RPM is rated for 5500-6000 so I think I could bump up in pitch a bit. It feels like I could use a bit more stern lift, like what I got with a rev4 on my 692. Hoping to tweek to get 30mph and get rid of the hydrofoil thing.
Idle is @ 1000, which the spec is 725, so I need to turn that down, forward troll is @ 2.5ish, backtroll is 1.3-4 or so, getting the idle down should help both those.
I know power steering is not necessary, but there are options for motors this size so id be curious to see if anyone is using it.
I am going to use this boat this fall and want to try and optimize performance so I can decide if I want to keep this boat or my 692 which in in for a motor rebuild. It fishes really nice but I really miss the speed.
