Your rig has more character than all the Ranger pictures put together. I can imagine skimming across 6-8" of water on plane, to get up river to the mouth of a little creek stacked with fish that never see a fisherman.
I got rid of a 16' Jon Boat to get a Ranger. I sure miss that boat. With a 50hp console I could plane in 12 inches of water over soft bottom. Could sneak through 4 inches with just me in the boat. Bigger isn't always better, but it is for me at this phase of life with the kids. I'm sure I will have a smaller boat again some day, but hopefully as a second boat. |
