| Its great not having to pack tackle boxes around and not trip over them.
The outside of the box and lids (topside and bottom) were sealed, plus the carpet glue is actually a water tight barrier, so I'm actually double covered there. The inside hangers are simply made of luan. Super light and dries in an instant. Plus the vents keep the inside dry (there is also a hole in the inside bottom that goes over the floor drain in the boat). I made a portable tackle box 4 years ago with the same inserts and exposed treated cedar wood, and have never ever had an issue with mold or warping. I cut channels in the frame of the box so that the inserts would slide into and keep them in place. I was going to use lexan, but it is heavier, more difficult to cut, and the luan does not have any issues with rubber (petroleum based lures). | |
