an on-deck option ... it works great and the innovation goes to brad nelson. i copied and used a 4-rod mount, although you can find holders for up to 6 and maybe even more. for long trips i use the small bunjees and tie the rod ends to the pedestal base to ensure they are stable, but for most use they stay put nicely and don't get banged around with the butt-ends just on the deck near the nose of the boat. i'm sure you could do some form of cable locking to keep the quick criminal away, but if i'm someplace where i need to "empty" the contents of the boat for security, i put the rods in the truck or in the house/cabin/garage etc...

i think we have fewer criminals in WI than you do in IL and MN.
