i've been told the variable veins just need to be cleaned. it's not that turbos go bad, just that like other parts in trucks, they need to be maintained after time. they've told me to expect a 4 hour job and without parts it's going to be reasonable. it's always possible i may run into a parts need. i'll let you know what i find out once it's taken apart.

this isn't that it needs more air, but more that it has a leak when the turbo is needed. the high-pitched humming noise is the turbo spinning with an air leak.

i don't think my leak is a valve leak.
