My Lowrance LMS 522 unit was having the same GPS problems this year. The GPS would work and then not work, leaving big gaps in my trails. I called Lowrance support and completed a soft reboot and later a hard reboot per their recommendations. No improvement so I sent my unit in for a bench test and comparable unit replacement for about 50% of a new unit cost. Lowrance mailed me a new HDS 5 GPS/Sonar and I am very satisfied with Lowrance's customer support service.
