Mine required no switch, just contact Humminbird. They told me which "y" cable and which transducer for my unit (981 csi updated with 2010 software). I assume the new transducer ( a 200 hz unit) runs the basic depthfinder, while the sidefinder transducer runs all of the higher frequencies. I now have good high speed readings (40+ mph) as well as my low speed down imaging and sideviews.
