I could be wrong, as the units I networked are a 27C and a 520C, but I'm pretty sure you need more than the ethernet cord to "network." In fact, I don't have an ethernet cord in my "network" and my two units do everything you ask except share chips.You can't share chips between the units, you need a separate Lakemaster/Navionics for each unit.

Basically, what I had to do was set up a NMEA network in the boat and my two units share waypoints and share a GPS puck.
