Location: Sun Prairie, WI | IT can be fixed. Its the key pad and there is a guy on here that made a new circuit board that goes behind the keypad. Its a very delicate job. Open unit, use heat gun to remove the epoxy holding the key pad in then unsolder it from the main board and solder in the new pad with 28 gauge wire that will make you go crosseyed trying to see what your doing. i have done this to my global map 3500c and it was a challenge to say the least. The key pad he made was for a slightly different unit so I have to modify it to get it to work. i will look to see if I can find his info and the pics he sent of his repair and look to see if I still have the pics I took. |
