Are you all talking GPS, boat speedometer, or fish finder speed? My 1750 Crestliner with a 4 stroke 115 Yamaha will generally top out at the following:
- 45 mph on boat speedometer
- 48 mph fishfinder
- 40 mph GPS (actual)

Boat speedometers and fishfinders are rarely accurate and often read high. I fished with a guy who had a 150 Optimax on an 18 ft Lund. He said his boat did 52 mph. It did - according to his boat speedometer. My hand-held GPS indicated no more than 42 mph. It was a very nice boat to fish in. Just not as fast as he thought.

I don't think the fish care much how fast your boat goes.
