I have those issues as well. My Riptide (and Terrova before it) head hangs just over the side of the boat, but if I change the angle too much, the base and powerhead hit the winch tower when the boat slides off the trailer. As it is now, I have to make sure the prop is facing backwards when I slide it off the trailer or it'll hit. Any more angle and it'd rip the side plate of the TM off and I know several other guys with the same issue. No biggie and it's a non-issue with installation considerations, but it is something to be aware of. It doesn't stick out enough that it prevents me from docking on that side of the boat.

As for the RAM mount, I see it the same as a transom saver for my outboard. I'm not worried about vibration going into the head of the Riptide...it'll get vibes either way regardless. I'm worried about the head bouncing so much that it fatigues the TM base or the TM pad on the boat. I check the torque on my TM bolts several times a season. The water I fish is brutal on a boat and it's bolt ons.
