| I've used both units and if they're similar in price, get the HDS. Much more capable. Yes, the Elite is going to be a little easier to use because it has fewer options, but honestly plug in the HDS and it will do most of what you want without changing many settings.
As far as mounting goes, tell us more about where you're mounting it and what type of boat. This will make a huge difference. Are you mounting it to the bow off of a trolling motor transducer, at the console off the back, etc... | |
