| If you are looking to remove scratches you will need to be very careful that you do not remove too much and "silver" your poly flake, and may need to fill in the scratch first to avoid creating more problems.
The way you sand the gel coat is with wet/dry paper in progression from say 120 or 150 up to 1500 followed by polishing compound. You need to use plenty of water, rinse your paper often and make sure that you have removed all of the previous grit marks before progressing to next grit. I have found that using 2" rigid foam insulation chunks as a sanding block works very well for conforming to contuors of a boat, and remain stiff enough to apply pressure when needed | |
