Ok, took a break from ice fishing this weekend and went off to the Green Bay Boat Show feeling again somewhat disappointed. We all know the musky market is small but really couldn't find a rig that I would say fits my needs.

Yeah, the 620, 619 would work but I feel it is just a tad overkill for northern WI waters. Tuffy's x-190 is darn near a perfect rig (wasn't at the show) but I feel when the rare time it is panny fishing with the family (4) in the cock pit is a little too tight.

So while looking at the rangers the rep and I start taking about the new 17' tiller coming out. In the conversation I bring up any chance the 690 or 692 will be re-introduced? Without hesitation he responds, no. I keep prodding and a ranger sponsored guy walks over joining in the conversation just praising the old 690 and 692 he used to own and also mentioning wished that model was still around.

Rep responds again it isn't going to happen (while laughing.....all was in good fun) but I mention bet he could sell this style of boat again throwing a few numbers out there. We trade numbers and I head off.

Now thinking afterward....if Ranger still has the mold, how many 690s or 692s would they have to sell to make it a viable model again?

Am I just a 690 groupie and there really is another rig out there that will work just as well?

Wouldn't a brand new 690 with a max of 175hp keep the price down in the "normal range" vs a 619 or 620? Can't say I would ever drop 50k on a new boat.....the last truck I bought didn't even come close to that.

The 1860 angler wouldn't be a bad choice......but dropping that amount of cash I want what I want.
