A locking reciever pin is a good idea but don't leave it in all the time without working it and oiling it they are a bugger to remove if rusted. ( I know) Don't count on just a padlock on your coupler when your boat is parked a number of boats around here were stolen by guys that had just a pin instead of a ball on their hitch allowing them to haul off a locked coupler. Even a golf ball inside the coupler helps but a propper coupler lock is better.
Even the best locks only keep honest people out thats why you buy insurance
