Location: Oregon, WI | My whole point is, it's very desirable in my opinion to be able to lock up or store rods while trailering and when boat is going to be left un-attended for some reason or another. How many threads have you seen about guys wondering how long of a rod they can get into their vehicle? Can't tell you the number of times I've had to un-load everything that can't be locked down after a day on the water or while attending out of town pre/post tournament meetings, etc. Fortunately, you can fit a 9 footer diagonally in a dodge quad cab but it's still a pain.
Guess what it really comes down to, is how important is it to you as a potential boat buyer. As far as Ranger goes, how important is it too them especially with just about every musky show preaching at one point or another about using longer rods.
Check out the Recon 785/985 or the Skeeter MX1825. They managed to do it and still have what I consider a good layout.
