1000 lbs won't be a problem. I know plenty of people that have towed more with the same combination. Make sure you have an external transmission cooler. The 3.8 definitely has a lot more low end torque. The new 3.6 has a lot of power but is incredibly smooth. The gas mileage is a little better too. It is being adapted to be used in every Chrysler vehicle with a V6.
