Hi Everyone,

What takes its toll on trailer tires where mileage is not an issue is dry rot... When you start seeing cracks in and around the edges of the tread and sidewall, or in between treads, dry rot is starting to take place.

The biggest contributor to dry rot is sunlight... Those wonderful ultraviolet rays that we have to be careful of also do damage to lots of things...rubber compounds included. The more sunlight, the less flexible the tire becomes and the cracks form.

Steve
