I was testing a boat that had a 150 Johnson FICHT on it a couple years ago. It did the same thing over and over again. Mostly when going wide open throttle. The motor would then shut down and limit engine rpm unless I turned it off to reset it.
Sorry, never did figure out what the problem was because I never bought that boat. The motor issues alone were enough to keep me from buying it.
