I have been towing my 690 with one for three years, no problem, and the wife uses it daily as the kid hauler. In fact, it is much more powerful than my GMC's with the 5.3 were, and why I bought it. It also has better ground clearance and more room in the cab as just an extended cab. The rear doors open without the front doors having to be opened, which is nice with the little ones and I didn't have to go to a crew cab and the joke of a short box that comes with that. Gas mileage isn't as good as the 5.3, but better than the GM 6.0 and this has comparable power to one. I do have slight a noise that started about a year ago, that growls slightly for the first mile or so then stops. I think it is a bearing, but since out of warranty and seemingly not a big issue, I'll look into when I have the brakes done this fall(noise is worse in cold weather). That all said, after riding in newer GMC 5.3's and newer ford 5.4's I'd buy this rig again, based on the power and room factors.
