I'm guessing you must have a good reason for putting it in the bilge area. I've always had my filters mounted to the side of the boat in the splashwell area so I had easy access to it for changing the filter every year. Plus with my Raccor the see through bowl is easily seen up high in the splashwell area to check for water being trapped in the bowl. I had to cut a couple pieces of aluminum to make a bracket for the filter and attached them with wellnuts as the sides of my Tuffy X-190 were just too low for clearance to the bottom of the splashwell, but it works fine and is easy to service and that was the whole idea. If it is too hard to get at you'll be tempted to ignore the filter after a while.
