I used angle iron and etex coated plywood. I went with the angle iron because my brother in law weighs in @ about 350 pounds, and I needed it to be super strong. I was going to use aluminum, but at twice the cost, and 4 times as difficult to weld, I just stuck with steel. It's not too heavy as I can pull it in and out by myself pretty easily.
