I have a four stroke Yamaha as well. Mine is a 225 sport (Sport=20" shaft). I don't know Skeeters well, other than they're fine boats.

As for your motor, Yamaha pounds two things into their mechanics' heads at schools and via tech reps-
1. ALWAYS use a 10 micron fuel/water seperator and keep it changed at due intervals.
2. ALWAYS use Ring Free or Sea Foam on every fill-up.

They stress this more than anything else. Of course they want you to use their products. But in real-world, off the record conversation they say to just use something. They don't care if it's a Racor filter and Sea Foam, these motors (injectors mainly) have to stay clean. Use them religiously and your motor will thank you. A filter is like $12 and RF or SF is very affordable as well. It's very affordable preventative maintenance.
