| If I understand you correctly, the grease shouldn't be coming back out the grease-zerk fitting. A zerk has a spring and ball in that compresses when the grease gun's pressure overrides the zerk's spring pressure, and temporarily pushes the ball down far enough to allow grease to go by. When the grease gun is removed the spring should re-seat the ball at the opening of the zerk to prevent either grease from escaping or foreign material from entering the zerk. (water, dirt, etc.)
You don't have to replace the entire Bearing Buddy. Go to your local hardware store and get a replacement zerk fitting with 1/4"-28 threads, or whatever yours is.
