The shaft would be warranted against defects but not against abuse or neglagence. Your truck might have a 3 yr/36,000 warranty on it but if you run it into a tree it's not covered under warranty. I doubt these motors just self deploy, more likely they were not stowed correctly or all the way to begin with.

With any Power Drive or Terrova motor you should invest in a Ram motor mount to lock it down secure during towing and long runs.
