Regarding high speed readings with the SI transducer what I found is if you position the transducer according to HB's instructions you will loose bottom contact when up on plane. You have a couple of options to gain depth readings at speed. Try angling the back of the transducer down, and not level like HB suggests. I did this on my 997 and it worked much better. Your other option, and the one I ultimately went with was to purchase another regular dual beam transducer and mount it on the other side of my transom to use for on plane readings. This allows you to keep your SI transducer up and out of the way (you only use SI at slow speeds). The regular transducer is cheap, and you can purchase a y cable to connect both transducers to your unit. I"ve had no more issues with this settup (mounted on a Crestliner Fishawk)
