Sorry to hear about your trouble. That's not fun. I can relate, had a similar incident on LOTW.

We're staying at Century Lodge in the south end.

Fished Eagle Lake last Summer and the chip did very little in the way of providing assitance to navigation. My best suggestion is to use the chip to lay down a known path of deeper water and do not, REPEAT DO NOT, get going faster than your motor can raise up. Busted up a lower unit pretty badly on what we thought was a safe route which we had laid earlier in the day. Must have been off my no more than 15 feet, but it was enough to lose a morning of fishing trying to patch up a lower unit. We had the Navionics chip and for the most part it didn't do much good.
