Location: Iowa | I've heard with 3000 and older gps pucks, you should have at least three feet between the unit and the puck. My buddy was having problems with his acquiring a signal with his 113. It was funny because he had about a foot from his unit and five inches in front of his windshield and it still wouldn't pick up. But his soon as we unscrewed it from the base and moved it forward or even pointed it horizontal away from the unit/windshield, it picked up instantly. So he mounted a little forward and on one of those white cone shaped bases and has no problems since.
If you do need a new puck, I would invest in the new 4000 puck. It refreshes 5 times a second verus 1 time a second for the 3000 puck. And supposedly you can have it next to your unit and it isn't supposed to effect it. I'm 98% sure it will accept the lcx and lms units. You'll have to look on the website to find compadability with your particular unit.
