The 318 is under powered when pulling our 18 foot Starcraft Super fisherman. This makes it shift back and forth between drive and over drive. It forces you disengage the overdrive there goes the gas mileage.

Dodge manuals specify when towing more than 2000 lbs or if the tranny shifts out of overdrive repeatedly, to take it off. You will cause more damage to the OD unit than anything else. New OD units are about 3000 installed.
