Location: Twin Cities | I had a hambys light on my boat that had peeled back from the adhesive, but the adhesive was definetly not coming off the boat. I was irate yes, but after talking to Roger at Hamby he explained why the problem happened. He sent me a new one, for free. I just removed the old one off my boat and with out reading up on the best way to remove one, it would have taken forever to remove it and I mean forever. After getting a stiff/sharp putty knife, some solvent, goof off and a torch I had it off and the hull prepped for the next one in one hour. I know that sounds crazy but a red hot putty knife peeled that adhesive right off, and with a careful hand I caused no damage to my glass hull. The Goof off removed the sticky residue left over. There are thousands off hambys light owners out there and they are a great keel guard. Dont be afraid to go with the Light Duty. From what I understand following the instructions to a T is what will make it last forever or not. Either way adding any Hambys is the best bet to add to protect your keel. |
