Location: north central wisconsin | I agree that 80% of the foot pedal on the terrova is wasted space. That said, the 20% of the pedal I use on the terrova is so much more user friendly than the pedal on the newer pd, in my opinion. It is easier to stow and deploy, and the digital steer seems more responsive(quicker) than that of the pd. I run a 70 lb pd on one rig and the terrova 80 on another and the difference is very noticable. I need all 80 lbs to hold in heavy current at times and wish I had more on occasion. To say a 70 lb will do the same as an 80 lb is saying a 7' rod will do the same as an 8' rod. However, the 70lb will suffice just fine for the 16' aluminum boat you describe.
That said, I completely agree with Brad in that there should be multiple pedal options for the Terrova. An 8" wide by 5" deep pedal would be great. That rocker is a joke on the Terrova, does not respond as well as the tap switches, and I know nobody who uses that feature to date. The pedal is so much more dependable than the ones on my old pd's though, and I wouldn't trade this motor for anything else I see out there right now.
