I bought the Structure Scan unit tonight and read through the installation manual. Does anyone know out of the different mounting options, which is the best for best performance of the transducer? Jack plate, step mount, direct step mount, or transom? Putting it on jack plate or step protects it much better, but you won't get any readings unless you are not on plane.

Thanks.
