| I had the same problem a few years ago. Solution: quick detachable plate for the trollng motor that minnkota sells and put the motor in the bottom of the boat or the truck on long trips. For going on short trips to the local lakes, I cut a piece of 1" electrical pvc pipe that had the wider coupling end the length from the trolling motor shaft to the deck. I then sawed a notch in the coupling end that fit the shaft snug. I have a velcro strap that holds it from sliding down the shaft and a 1/4" pin with a latch that keeps it from coming out of the "fork". I glued one of those kids super balls that fit in the pipe, about halfway in, from the end that is on the deck, and that seems to hold it better on the deck, and not wear a groove in the carpet. Not real pretty, but functional.
