i had run a boston whaler dauntless prior to buying the boat that jeff got from me so i'd had plenty of time in a center console and really learned to love them and actually prefer them in lots of conditions. my complaint on the whaler was deck-positioning and power. then i saw this one ... LOL, i had to have it! it's a whaler on steroids and was an absolute blast to drive especially in rough stuff. the deck levels are that of a bass boat so working baits is easy and comfortable, but the depth of the bottom-half screams Big-Water Deep V. i'm glad it went to a guy like jeff who was able to put it in a place where it belongs on st. clair. the 200C was only built one year and has now become the line of bayrangers that i think start at 24' ... so this is truly a unique inland center console that get looks.
that thing gets up and flat so quick and easy it's crazy ... awesome boat!! someday i'm gonna get another ride in it!! :o)
You just gotta show up Sled, and the boat ramp is five minutes away. We might even cast a few baits if you're so inclined...
This boat really is the best of both worlds. With it's 620 hull, it's rated to 225. But it's a loud hull with lots of chine slap. Which for muskies on LSC doesn't really matter, but for alot of species you'd target in a bay is no good-redfish, snook, tarpon.... So with their current line of dedicated bay hulls, they rounded the chines and made them quieter, but in the process lost hp rating. I think their current 20' bay is only rated at like 150 or 175. You have to go up to the 22 or 23 to get back to 225/250 hp. It'll hit 55 with a tail wind, but will cruise at 47-50 all day long and not even break a sweat. The Yammie 225 Sport is a perfect match for this boat. 20" shaft, and torque for days. It was Yamaha's first attempt at a four stroke bass motor. It's a big, heavy....well...."sled." She loves the 3'ers but will float in a foot of water (motor up).
