Location: Cedarburg, Wisconsin | Screws will work for a while, but they will slowly pull out from the vibrations of the lures and from the motor. I saw that in my last boat, an Alumacraft. Used #12 wood screws to attach holders through the carpeted plywood. Sealed them with silicon (gooped the screws and the bases all around) as I put them in and they held on for about 10 years before they started pulling out. I had better luck putting them in fiberglass on a Ranger I had before that, but it is a pain trying to crank them tight plus it gouges up the the fiberglass in case you ever want to move them to a different spot. If at all practical, I'd try to do it the best way the first time and use stainless bolts with lock washers so it's a one time deal. |
