Subject: RE: Suzuki DF140

I have a 2005 140 johnson which is the same as suzuki (built by the same company just a different name on the motor). I have it on a 18 foot lund fisherman. I have about 5 or 6 hundred hours on it and not a hiicup or anything as far as the mechanics its been sound for me. But power wise I wish I could have went up to a 175 it seems a little underpower. I've talk to other people that run a suzuki or jonzukis and the only thing I heard was the trim switch had a recall on it. It was running to many amps and was burning up the switch on the throttle, I never had that problem so I couldn't tell ya for sure if it was a particular year or what. This fall when I took my boat in to get winterize I was talking to one of the mechanics about my motor and he said that the only difference between 115 and 140 was the gear ratio other wise they were the same motor. Overall I am please with this motor its reliable and thats the most important thing, good luck with your decision.
