a few years back i had that exact boat ('89 680T i believe) and did some refurbishing to include recarpeting and adding a rear casting deck.

i put a post hole in the deck for the seat so that i could pop the seat out and set it on the floor when someone was fishing on the back deck. that probably doesn't meet the "rules" about driver's seats, but when running a smaller tiller boat like that it worked fine and was plenty safe.
