Sounds like a good boat cover would pay for itself in a single season. Mike, have you noticed a difference in mileage having the topper on your truck compared to an open bed?

exactly. i paid $135 for the cover, just a standard one from Gander. it's paying itself off pretty quickly.

i haven't had a truck without a topper in years, so i can't speak to that firsthand. however, they did an episode of MythBusters about it, and used fuel flow meters on a single truck with open bed, tonneau cover, tailgate down, no tailgate, and net.
the net was the most fuel effecient, by a decent margin.
