don't go less than 55 lb tm. my dad has the classic 1625 (like the rebel 1625 not xl but with a rear deck) the tm moves the boat well, but he uses a lot of juice in the wind. he has a pd55. if you are going to stay 12v get a 31 group battery. you will need the extra amp hours. his only has a 25 suzi on it, and it goes 25 mph. i would try to get a 60 on that boat as it is what I want. i'm not familiar with merc's lineup, but i know evinrude makes a 60 hp.
