Not sure what year/model my Tuffy is (I think its a 1988 Sportman 160?) but it sounds similar to what your looking at, I have attached a picture of the day I got it last year.

I love the boat (who doesn't love their first boat) and am not sorry I bought it. The boat has been modified slightly, it now has a 90HP Merc and 6" jackplate on the back plus lms 527 gps and stereo and dual battery's and a bow mount Minn Kota. The little 50 Yamaha was a great reliable motor but was a little underpowered for 5 people (I have three kids).

With the engine swap I went from 32 MPH top speed loaded with 5 people + gear to 44.6 mph@5450rpm loaded, I am very satisfied with its performance after trying so many different props to get it tuned. I settled on a 22" Laser II but a 21" would have been better for pulling skiers etc.

The sponsoned hull is great for stability but kinda harsh in the big waves, I have had it out on Lake Manitoba during a wind storm in some 3 ft waves...kinda weird at first to go on top of the waves instead of through them but once I got used to it I was pinning it just to see how much she could take. My body gave up before the boat did...I didn't even get very wet.

Best part is people around here have never seen a Tuffy in person so people are always doing a double take at the ramp even though its an old boat, it kinda nice to have the guys with the brand new boats admiring my old girl to see how they are built...it has everything I need.

Feel free to PM me if this boat is similar to what your looking at and you have any questions.
