| I always buy used I can't justify the price of a new one when work, kids, and family don't let me get out as much as I like. Just remember when buying new, it is new. I have rigged 2 peoples new boat and just cause it is new doesn't mean it ready to go. Remounting poorly placed fish finders adding more fish finders, installing a good charger system (dealer always give cheap crap) and battery combo, we running wiring from the factory (they generally give #10 I go to 6-8 depending of the motor), putting on rails and rods holders, changing out the bilge to a auto bilge, adding interior lighting, tool holders, ropes, bungee ropes, I even change out 2 of my cheats to flip up cheat as to not break rods and get the net caught, etc, etc. etc. . Guys with boats to this over several months and years, perfecting the locations of where they want everything in the boat. When you have to do it out of the box it cost way more than you think. Before I bought my alumacraft used I looked into the new one. I had the money for new and the quote 22,000 then I added tax title and many of the things listed above it got past 28000 pretty quick. I bought a 2 year old one for 14000 and added 3K to it in its first week with a new hummingbird si and other misc stuff.
I would buy used and upgrade electronics and trolling motor. The cost of just that is 3 - 4 K.
