I haven't see anyone ask you your age. I made my last purchase based somewhat on my age. I've been getting out on the water less and less every season it seems. I don't know how much longer my body will be able to take the pounding of muskie fishing, so I bought a new multi-species rig that will no doubt last me for the remainder of my career. It is very roomy and has everthing on it that I will ever need, even when I turn into a troller or a full time panfisherman.
Yes you can buy good used rigs, but I wouldn't stop looking at new ones keeping resale price in mind.
