Hiya,

I think what rebel is saying is a good thing to check. If that is the case, I'd maybe be looking to talk to the original owner and ask him/her about a transom replacement and what they used, if in fact they did have a rebuild done. My only other thought would be that somehow they had it in salt water and did not have any zinc diode on the rig...

My gut says that if you could push a finishing nail through it, it's not seaworthy...its an accident waiting to happen. How long ago did you purchase the rig?
