Subject: Aluminum transom corrosion, Help

I have just purchased a very inexpencive boat motor and trailer combo yesterday, It was very, dirty and had some serious dark brown algae stain on the side and transom.. While cleaning it off I noticed many tiny holes in the transom above the waterline . Upon close examination It looked like tiny pimples on the painted aluminum transom. I actually was able to take a finishing nail and with very little pressure push it threw the aluminum outside shell the transom wood seemed solid but the Aluminum looked to be rusting from the inside out.? I never seen anything like this before, I went over the Entire boat and this was only happening on the transom area. Almost looks like the boat was hit with buckshot......Any Ideas will be helpfull Mike
