Common problem...walleye central site has ALOT of discussion on this over the years. Pretty much all 4 stroke yamaha owners have had this happen. If you dig enough you will find the common conclusions that when you break in a new Yamaha you need to disregard the manual and run it hard...you need to get the rings to seat properly. Obviously your past that point. So to best control it now is order a new thermostat. The new one runs 10 degrees hotter then the original. And limit the amount of trolling you do with your big motor. I don't ever troll with my big motor. If you go a day of walleye fishing and just troll your going to get fuel in your crankcase and you'll have to change the oil. You'll be busy reading for hours on this subject but those are the most common solutions to at least control it.
