Down easterns are ok, but really noisy and not as easy to work with getting the rod in and out. Dipping a Scotty rod holder in the water seems to work for me.....dont ask why!

Cold days are no problem....its the hot days they like to slide up. Thats when I thought of the idea of dipping them in the lake when they keep popping out and it seems to work.
