Location: Eagle River, WI		For a 24v system you should have a red and a black going to the trolling motor. the red being positive and the black being negative. Then there should be a "jumper" wire going from the negative one one battery to the positive on the other battery.
I think that your trolling motor is wired for 12v right now and that's why you melted the plug and you don't have any power.

1/2 the voltage = 2x the amperage
