I run a 50 hp on a 16 1/2 footer, and with guide ons, it does not always go on straight. Even my motor is not enough to pull the rig back, if I have pushed the front end up onto the keel rollers. Reason being is the rear force of the motor is not enough for the weight of the boat. I have had to put one leg over and push back sometimes...but I only do it if there is nobody else at the ramp. If others are there waiting, I will stop, hook up the boat to the winch strap, and push her back, then crank it up manually. actaully saves time, and lets the other people know you are not going to waste your time trying to power on, only to possibly not get on straight again.
