| I have a 2004 model Minnkota Maxxum Pro 80 24 volt trolling motor. I bought it used nearly two months ago and got to use it for the first time this weekend. Worked fine on Saturday, but today it started acting up. It will work fine and all of a sudden will not work at all. ALL battery connections are secure. I looked at it this evening when I got home and discovered through trial and error that when the foot pedal switch is turned on CON (did this to check for any loose wires etc. )and the motor will not run, all I have to do is bump the top of the trolling motor with my hand and it kicks on and runs fine. Then I turn it on and off a few times and it will go back to not working again. Bump it and it starts working again. Seems like there is something loose in the top of the trolling motor(TOP meaning where the steering cable, directional button and so forth are housed.) Not the lower unit .Anyone on this site have any idea what it might be. Also, it looks pretty easy, but how in the heck do I get the top of the housing off? I tried to undo the four screws underneath, but the top of the housing didn't seem to loosen up at all. I am afraid to mess with it too much as I will get aggravated and who knows what will get brokenLOL!!!! Thanks for any help.
